Chinese New Year

February 01, 2021
The Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, is the most important traditional festival in China. Its origin can be traced back to ancient times when people believed in deities and ghosts. According to legend, there was a monster named Nian that would come out of the sea on the night of New Year's Eve to attack people and livestock. To protect themselves, people would put up red decorations and set off firecrackers to scare the monster away.

Over time, the Chinese New Year became a time for family reunions, feasting, and celebrations. It marks the end of the winter season and the beginning of spring, symbolizing new beginnings and hope for the future. Today, the Chinese New Year is celebrated with traditional activities such as dragon and lion dances, temple fairs, and the exchange of red envelopes filled with money. It is a time for families to gather, share meals, and wish each other good luck and prosperity in the coming year.
